PRINCE PHILIPPE DE BOURBON-BRAGANCE ORIENTAL PAINTING - Prince Philippe de Bourbon-Bragance, 1847 to 1922, a watercolor on paper painting Kivir, 1897, depicting an Oriental scene with several human figures in a landscape. Signed and dated on the lower right. This watercolor is the work of one of the most fascinating figures in European culture, whose artistic expression remains insufficiently studied and reconstructed. Stylistically, it appears to be influenced by the French Orientalist movement. Prince Philippe de Bourbon et Bragance was a member of the House of Bourbon-Braganza, a noble lineage resulting from the union of the Spanish and Portuguese royal houses. While primarily known for his aristocratic background, he was also a prolific watercolorist and illustrator whose works are frequently traded in the European art market.
