SIGNED TATYANA MAVRINA RUSSIAN MIXED MEDIA PAINTING - Signed Tatyana Alekseyevna Mavrina, Russian, 1902 to 1996, a mixed media on paper painting, 1968. The painting shows a woman in a voluptuous pink dress, whose pose and gestures convey the dynamics of dancing surrounded by stylized greenery. Inscribed lower right Dances in the Garden. Signed and dated upper right. Hand marked on the back side. Tatyana Alekseyevna Mavrina was a Soviet artist and childrens book illustrator. In 1976, she won the Hans Christian Andersen Award, an international award given to authors and illustrators who have made substantial contributions to childrens literature. Up until 2018, she was the only Russian to win the award. She also was awarded the USSR State Prize in 1975 and the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR in 1981. Her illustrations for children mainly consisted of fairy tales and were in the style of the Russian lubok. Russian Portrait Paintings And Art Collectibles.
