ANTIQUE 18TH C RUSSIAN ICON HELP WITH SICKNESS - An antique 18th-century Russian icon depicting the Mother of God and the Christ Child, known as Soothe My Sorrows or Help With Sickness. Executed in egg tempera on a traditional wooden panel. The composition is encased in a decorative metal oklad featuring repousse and chased foliate borders, a radiant halo, and inset polychrome glass embellishments. The faces are rendered with fine linear detailing characteristic of the period, while the reverse of the panel retains its original structural form with evidence of historical mounting.
