The lot includes a study drawing and two printed photographs of Minoan figurines attached to a sheet of paper. Matted and framed. Jackson Pollock had a documented interest in Minoan art and mythology during the early 1940s, a crucial transitional period in his development toward abstract expressionism. This interest was largely expressed through his engagement with mythological themes, particularly the story of Pasiphaƫ, the Cretan princess, and the Minotaur, which was frequently explored by artists in his circle, including Pablo Picasso and Andre Masson.
