ACRYLIC PAINTING SIGNED MAQBOOL FIDA HUSAIN W COA - An acrylic on canvas painting signed upper left, Husain. Titled Astha Vinayaka Series. Maqbool Fida Husain, 1915 to 2011, an Indian Modernist artist known for his explorations of Indian culture and the history of the British Raj. The artwork features a dual representation of Ganesha, a recurring motif in the artists oeuvre. The composition utilizes a saturated palette of vermillion, ochre, and emerald green, defined by the artists signature calligraphic brushwork. Elephants appear in a number of Husains works which derived from his interest in the classical arts, namely sculpture and its depiction of the elephant god, Ganesha. Elephants have had a long association with India, as symbols of strength, nobility and grace.
