The medal features the inscription Kriegs Verdienst in the center of the wreath on one side and the crowned cypher of Friedrich Wilhelm III on the other. Established by Friedrich Wilhelm III. The first recipients were members of the Imperial Guard grenadier company guarding the Russian imperial residence during Friedrich Whilhelms visit to St. Petersburg in 1835.
