Dmitry Yanovsky lived and worked in Nizhny Novgorod. He developed his own complex technique in which he used plaster, old newspapers and numerous layers of paint, making his painting related to archeology and restoration, as if the artist was clearing darkened cultural layers in order to get to the archetypes living in the human unconscious.
