Framed. Yevgeniy Kievskiy is a Contemporary Artist Born in 1973 in Kyiv, Ukraine in 1973. From an early age, he displayed a natural talent for drawing, beginning his artistic journey in the first grade and nurturing his passion throughout his childhood. Through high school, he continued to develop his skills, often sketching his classmates and capturing everyday life with a keen eye for detail and emotion, sometimes in caricaturistic form. His dedication to the arts led him to pursue formal training at the prestigious National Academy of Arts and Architecture in Kyiv (then part of the USSR), where he studied from 1988 to 1991. During this period, he refined his technique and expanded his artistic horizons, laying a solid foundation for his future creative endeavors. In 1992, amid a turbulent post-Soviet Transition and in pursuit of new opportunities and artistic growth, Yevgeniy relocated to New York, United States, where he has since made his home and built his career as a painter, settling eventually in Southampton, New York. Later on, around 2000, he became an active member of the Student Art League of New York, engaging with the local art community and participating in its activities. He continued to explore themes of beauty and intimacy. His work primarily focuses on portraying women, cats, the deep connection between animals and people, flowers, and elements of Metaphorical Realism. Throughout his oil on canvas and three-dimensional sculptures, he explores themes of beauty, intimacy, emotion, and symbolism, often blending realistic depiction with deeper, metaphorical layers that evoke wonder and introspection. A significant influence on his style and vision has been his close friend and mentor, the renowned surrealist metaphorical realist painter Vladimir Kush, whose dreamlike, symbolic approach resonates in Yevgeniys own metaphorical explorations. Over the years, Yevgeniy has exhibited widely, including the Ukrainian Institute of New York, New York City, RVS Gallery, Southampton, NY, ART Hamptons, Miami, Florida, and Other venues. His paintings, such as various cat women themed works, have appeared in auctions and private collections, showcasing his consistent focus on connection with animals, particularly felines, as a subject rich with mystery and companionship. His paintings are celebrated for their vibrant colors, delicate compositions, and emotional depth, resonating with audiences across diverse venues. Today, Yevgeniy Kievskiy continues to create original works that bridge his Ukrainian roots with his American life, traveling around the globe, and capturing timeless human animal bonds and the poetic essence of everyday beauty through a lens of metaphorical realism.
