The original work is titled Group in Crinolines and was painted in 1909. Signed, KR, lower left. Additionally inscribed Wassily Kandinsky and Neuilly-sur-Seine, on the back side. Framed. Depicting a social gathering in an outdoor, plein-air setting. Eight stylized figures, predominantly women, are dressed in the voluminous Biedermeier-era crinolines popular in the mid-19th century. Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky, 1866 to 1944, is a Russian artist and theorist of fine arts who stood at the origins of abstract art. One of the founders of the Blue Rider group.
