ZVI SHOR ISRAELI IMPRESSIONIST SEASCAPE OIL PAINTING - Zvi Shor, Israeli, 1898 to 1976, oil painting on Masonite board. The artist utilizes an impressionistic technique with a palette dominated by earthy tones, ochre, and muted greens, contrasted by the warm red hulls of the vessels. The painting is signed and dated in the lower right corner. Zvi Shor was born in the Ukraine and emigrated to Israel on 1921 where he settled in Haifa. He studied with Herman and Eliezer Struck. In the years 1936-1938 Shor lived in Paris and participated in a grand exhibition along with Picasso, Renoir, Leger. From 1939 to 1948 Shor worked at the Kibbutz Hashlosha as a teacher.
