NEW YORK HISTORICAL ENGRAVING BY JOHN HILL FRAMED - A historical engraving on paper, New York, from Governors Island. Created by the Irish born artist William Guy Wall, who produced the original watercolor drawing, and engraved by the English master John Hill using the aquatint technique. Date of creation: circa 1823 to 1825. The print is the 20th and final plate of the monumental publication, The Hudson River Portfolio, issued by publisher Henry Megarey in New York. This series of works largely laid the foundations for the famous American school of landscape painting the Hudson River School. Marked, inscribed and titled in the plate in the lower margin. Framed.
