IGOR TULIPANOV RUSSIAN AMERICAN SURREALIST PRINTS - Igor Tulipanov, Russian, born 1939, pair of color prints on paper. First, titled Metamorphoses of Silence, was created for a 1989 exhibition and features an intricate organic and architectural composition. Second, a surrealist portrait dated 1983, depicting a stylized head entwined with thorny vines and floral motifs. Both signed and framed. Igor Tulipanov, or Tulpanov, worked initially as a stage designer and gradually moved into painting, and the theatrical experience reveals itself in his dreamlike subjects and style. In 1980, Tulipanov emigrated from Leningrad to New York, and shortly thereafter held his first major exhibition in San Francisco. Modern Prints And Art Collectibles.
