Bidspirit auction | A Chinese Celadon Crackle Glaze
A Chinese Celadon Crackle Glaze Stoneware Vase in the Guan Style - A Chinese stoneware vase of ovoid baluster form with a flared rim. The vessel is finished in a thick celadon glaze of a pale green hue, heavily suffused with a network of dark grey and ochre crackle lines, emulating the Guan-ware of the Song dynasty. The glaze covers the entire exterior and interior, as well as the underside of the base. The unglazed foot rim exposes a dark reddish-brown stoneware body, a feature characteristic of this style known as an iron foot. The interior of the neck displays concentric throwing rings. No maker or reign marks are visible. This item is likely a 19th or 20th-century archaistic production.
