Edwardian Sterling Silver Egg-Shaped Tumbler Pepperette, Sanders & Mackenzie, Birmingham, 1914 - A sterling silver novelty pepperette by the silversmiths Sanders & Mackenzie (trading as S. J. Levi & Co), designed in the form of an egg with a 9 carat gold-gilt wash. Full hallmarks are struck on both the lid and the interior base: the maker's mark S J over LD within a quatrefoil punch, the lion passant for sterling silver (.925 fineness), the anchor for the Birmingham assay office, and the date letter p for the year 1914.
