Royal Tank Corps / Regiment Officer's Silver Cap Badge by J.R. Gaunt London - A British Army officer's private-purchase cap badge for the Royal Tank Corps, which became the Royal Tank Regiment in 1939. The badge is struck in silver and features a First World War Mark IV heavy tank in profile at the centre, surrounded by a laurel wreath and surmounted by a Tudor (King's) Crown. A scroll at the base is inscribed with the regimental motto FEAR NAUGHT. The reverse is fitted with two copper lugs for secure attachment. The central tank section bears an incised maker's mark for J. R. GAUNT LONDON. The word SILVER is stamped on the reverse of the crown. This pattern was in use from 1924 until 1953.
