Mid-20th Century Nepalese Kukri Knife with Lion-Head Pommel and Wood Scabbard - A kukri knife of traditional recurved form, complete with its accompanying scabbard. The single-edged blade is constructed from polished steel and is detailed with two narrow fullers running along the spine and a kaudi notch at the base. The hilt is made from a silver-toned metal, likely white metal or silver plate, and is embellished with hand-chased foliate and floral scrollwork. The grip features a central raised band and terminates in a cast pommel shaped as a lion's head, a design characteristic of mid-century presentation or souvenir pieces from Nepal or Northern India. The scabbard is fashioned from dark-stained wood and terminates in a metal chape. Blade length: approximately 25 cm.
