A mid-20th century novelty maritime diorama wall clock - A mid-20th century novelty maritime wall clock featuring an arched case constructed from stained timber. The dial area is decorated with twelve applied circular brass bosses in place of numerals and is fitted with twin brass hands and a central vertical brass arm. To the lower portion of the panel, a rectangular glazed aperture houses a three-dimensional diorama. The scene depicts a four-funnel ocean liner, reminiscent of the RMS Titanic, shown in a sinking position amongst painted waves and a rocky coastal landscape. A standard bayonet-type electric light socket is mounted to the top of the box for internal illumination of the scene. No maker's marks or signatures are visible on the exterior or accessible portions of the movement.
