A Pair of Raphael Tuck and Sons Victorian Chromolithographic Commemorative Plaques - A pair of late 19th-century circular decorative plaques produced by Raphael Tuck and Sons. These plaques are made of a pressed composition material, such as papier-mache or stiffened wood pulp board, and possess a slightly dished form intended for display. The surfaces are decorated with chromolithographic transfer prints depicting two landmark events from the reign of Queen Victoria. - The Marriage of the Queen and Prince Albert of Saxe Coburg in the Chapel Royal St. James, 10th February 1840. -The Queen Receiving Lord Beaconsfield and the Marquis of Salisbury on Their Return from Berlin, July 1878. The reverse of each plaque bears the printed trademark for Raphael Tuck and Sons, which includes an artist's easel containing the letters R T and S within a shield, above an artist's palette inscribed ARTISTIC SERIES and the text TRADE MARK.
