9 Carat Yellow Gold B S & S Shell Cameo Ring Birmingham 1986 - A vintage 9 carat yellow gold shell cameo cocktail ring by B S & S. The ring features a centrally mounted oval shell cameo depicting a classical female profile in relief, facing right. The carving is executed in white over a brownish-orange cornelian shell ground. The cameo is held in a rub-over bezel setting. The gold mount is designed with wide, decorative shoulders featuring pierced openwork scroll motifs and applied gold beads, tapering into a solid D-section shank. The interior of the shank is struck with full British hallmarks including the maker mark B S & S, a crown, the fineness mark 375 for 9 carat gold, the Birmingham anchor assay symbol, and the date letter m for 1986.(size 9mm) Gross weight 2.54g.
