UK 2009 Kew Gardens 50p Proof Coin - A UK commemorative fifty pence coin issued by the Royal Mint in 2009 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. This specimen is a proof strike, characterised by frosted relief against mirror-polished fields. The obverse features the fourth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, with the circumscribed legend ELIZABETH · II · D · G · REG · F · D and the denomination FIFTY PENCE. The reverse, designed by Christopher Le Brun, features the Great Pagoda at Kew design flanked by the dates 1759 and 2009. The coin is heptagonal with a plain edge.
