Bidspirit auction | Spanish Model 1893 Mauser Long

Spanish Model 1893 Mauser Long Sword Bayonet - A Spanish Model 1893 Mauser long sword bayonet, typically dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The weapon features a long, single-edged steel blade with a deep fuller running approximately three-quarters of its length toward a spear point. The hilt is composed of two-piece wooden grips secured by two steel bolts with circular nuts, terminating in a steel bird's-head pommel equipped with a spring-loaded locking catch and a T-O shaped mounting slot. The crossguard includes a muzzle ring and a downward-projecting quillon with a flat, circular finial. There are faint traces of stamped markings on the ricasso and crossguard, though they are heavily obscured by oxidation and pitting. This pattern of bayonet was a standard sidearm for Spanish forces during the Spanish-American War period and remained in service for several decades.
