A Nepalese Gurkha Kukri with Dragon Engraved Blade and Leather Scabbard - This traditional mid-to-late 20th century Nepalese kukri features a single-edged steel blade with a characteristic inward curve and a cho notch at the base. The blade is decorated with hand-etched motifs depicting a serpentine dragon amongst clouds and a central pagoda structure. The hilt is constructed from polished turned wood with a central raised ring for grip, a brass bolster, and a brass pommel cap. The tang of the blade is peened over a diamond-shaped brass plate at the base of the hilt. The accompanying wooden scabbard is wrapped in black leather and features a brass chape and an integrated leather frog for belt attachment. Two small accessory tools, the karda utility knife and chakmak sharpening steel, are housed in pouches at the rear of the scabbard. Total length: approximately 30.5 - 35.5 cm.
