First World War US M1917 Remington Sword Bayonet Dated September 1917 - A United States M1917 sword bayonet manufactured by Remington. This pattern was based on the British Pattern 1913 design and was issued for use with the M1917 Enfield rifle during the First World War. The bayonet features a long, straight, single-edged steel blade with a deep fuller on both sides. The hilt consists of a steel crossguard with a circular muzzle ring, two-piece walnut grip scales with two characteristic horizontal grooves for improved purchase, and a steel bird's-head pommel with an internal spring-loaded push-button catch. The left side of the ricasso is stamped 1913 above the manufacture date 9 17, indicating production in September 1917. Below these marks is the circular manufacturer stamp for the Remington Arms Company. Total length: 54.5 cm (21.5 in) Blade length: 43 cm (17 in).
