WWII US Collins and Co Legitimus No. 1250 Machete Dated 1944 and Canadian Robco Ltd Sheath Dated 1945 - A World War II era military machete and leather sheath. The machete was manufactured by Collins and Company under their Legitimus brand name. The blade ricasso bears an incised logo of a flexed arm holding a hammer rising from a crown, above the text LEGITIMUS, COLLINS and CO, MADE IN U.S.A., NO. 1250, 1944. The heavy steel blade features a wide, rounded tip and a straight back, consistent with the M1942 pattern. The hilt consists of two black synthetic handle scales secured by three steel rivets, with a flared pommel and a lanyard hole. The accompanying brown leather sheath is stamped ROBCO LTD, MONTREAL, 1945. It is a heavy-duty design with a belt loop and a hilt retaining strap. This cross-national pairing of a US manufactured blade with a Canadian manufactured sheath was common for Allied equipment during the latter stages of the war.
