Bidspirit auction | A Pair of Large Late

A Pair of Large Late 19th Century Victorian Gilt Composition and Black Painted Wall Mirrors - A matched pair of large rectangular wall mirrors dating to the late 19th century. The frames are constructed with deeply moulded composition decoration on a wooden base. The primary decorative motif consists of a wide, continuous band of oak leaves and acorns in high relief, a characteristic Victorian design. This is bordered by several smaller mouldings, including beaded and gadrooned patterns. The frames are finished in a combination of gilding for the ornate sections and a contrasting black paint for the flat outer rectangular surrounds. The mirror plates are clear and exhibit no significant visible foxing or desilvering. Adhesive lot labels are present on the glass, including Lot 61 and 1534. No maker's marks are visible. Dimensions: Substantial size, approximately 100cm wide.
