A Patinated and Cold Painted Bronze Sculpture of the Genius of Science on a Pedestal - A bronze sculpture depicting a seated winged child, commonly identified as the Genius of Science, absorbed in reading an open book. The figure is cast with short curly hair and large stylized wings, seated atop a classical-style pedestal. The piece features a bi-colour finish with a warm bronze patina to the figure's body and a contrasting verdigris-green cold-painted finish applied to the simple sleeveless tunic and the acanthus-style leaves on the pedestal. The central shaft of the column is finished in a copper tone, set between two foliate collars and mounted on a stepped square black base. The casting displays fine detail in the facial expression, hair texture, and the stylized patterns on the wings. There are no visible maker marks or signatures. Height: approximately 35 cm.
