A Victorian Pierced Brass and Wrought Iron Fireside Footman - A nineteenth-century Victorian fireside footman, also referred to as a kettle stand or trivet, of rectangular form. The brass top features an intricate pierced fretwork design with a central starburst motif surrounded by a border of geometric Greek-key patterns. A deep brass apron on three sides is pierced with multiple rows of circular holes and finished with a decorative scalloped lower edge. The piece is constructed with a robust internal wrought iron support frame, to which the brass components are secured. It is supported by two decorative cabriole-style front legs and two plain, square-section wrought iron rear legs with flattened pad feet. A modern white adhesive auction label bearing the number 537 is attached to the top right surface. Width: approximately 30cm - 40cm Weight Class: Medium-Heavy.
