Victorian Hand-Painted Porcelain Miniature Portrait Brooch in Original Fitted Case - A Victorian mid-to-late 19th-century oval miniature portrait brooch, featuring a hand-painted porcelain plaque. The plaque depicts a romanticised portrait of a reclining young woman with fair hair and rosy cheeks, wearing a white dress and holding a cluster of red berries in her raised left hand. The reverse of the brooch is fitted with a simple C-clasp and a long pin typical of the mid-Victorian period. An incised mark reading '750' is located on the reverse of the metal frame near the hinge. Despite the 18 carat gold fineness mark, significant tarnish and areas of green verdigris are visible on the reverse of the mount, suggesting a gold-plated base metal construction. The brooch is presented in its original rectangular leatherette-covered case with a silk and velvet lining.
