Late 19th-Century style Neoclassical Carved Alabaster High-Relief Plaque in Ornate Gilt and Ebonised Frame - A late 19th-century style circular high-relief plaque carved from translucent alabaster. The neoclassical scene depicts two mythological figures, likely Bacchus and Ariadne, amidst a dense arrangement of grapevines, clusters of grapes, and large tropical-style leaves. The male figure on the right is portrayed holding a thyrsus, a traditional staff associated with Dionysian rites. The sculpture is set within a deep-set burgundy-coloured fabric mount and housed in a substantial rectangular frame. The frame is constructed from wood with decorative gesso moulding, featuring an ebonised finish to the side sections and elaborate gilded foliate and floral ornamentation at the corners and along the inner sight edge. No maker's marks, signatures, or inscriptions are visible on the plaque or the accessible portions of the frame.
