Mid-20th Century Beresford & Hicks Georgian-Style Mahogany Bureau - A mid-20th-century Georgian-style mahogany-veneered bureau by the London cabinetmakers Beresford & Hicks. The piece is constructed from mahogany and features decorative book-matched flame mahogany veneers applied to the fall-front and drawer faces. The fall-front opens on two pull-out loper supports to reveal a fitted interior containing six open pigeonholes and four small drawers with brass pull knobs. The writing surface features an inset red leather scriber with a gilded foliate border. The lower section comprises two full-width drawers with brass ring-pull handles on circular backplates, all supported on simple bracket feet. The reverse of the bureau retains a brown and white paper manufacturer's label featuring a woodworking plane graphic and printed text reading 'Beresford & Hicks of London'.
