ENGLISH HOUSEHOLD CAVALRY CUIRASS AND HELMET
Ca. 19th - 20th century AD.
An English Household Cavalry cuirass and helmet of white iron with brass fittings. The breastplate has a prominent central ridge and brass rivets, and both the breastplate and backplate are internally lined with red leather. Each shoulder strap culminates in a silvered lion-headed boss, denoting the wearer’s rank as an officer. The helmet features a red horse-hair plume, traditionally worn by both the Royal Horse Guards and the Blues and Royals.
Size: 440mm x 350mm breastplate, 470mm x 250mm helmet; Weight: 4.2k breastplate, 900g helmet
