EGYPTIAN BLUE GLAZED FAIENCE GRAPE CLUSTER - New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC.An example of a moulded pendant grape cluster. The piercing at the top would allow attachment to a register of faience tiles representing lotus, rosettes, and grape friezes. These are known to have adorned a wall of a palace of Ramesses III at Tell el-Yahudiya in Lower Egypt. Such examples of moulded pendant grape clusters were used as architectural ornaments on palaces, temples, and shrines and are associated with gods and royal scenes.
