EGYPTIAN WOODEN BUST OF PHARAOH WITH BRONZE COBRA
New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC. A wooden bust of a pharaoh. The face is solemn, with almond-shaped eyes, a defined nose, and full lips that convey a sense of authority. The head is adorned with a headdress, representing the nemes or khepresh, detailed with the frontal bronze cobra. The torso is minimally detailed, and the right hand is in high relief on the chest. Reviewed by Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition.
