EGYPTIAN BLUE FAIENCE AMULET DJED PILLAR
New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC.An exemplary mould-formed pendant in the form of a djed pillar. A djed pillar is characterised as a sizable structure with a gently flared base, a tiered upper section and a suspension hole drilled through the integral dorsal pillar. The amulet is adorned in a lustrous blue-green glaze. The Djed pillar amulet was a highly favoured item to be placed on mummies and was also interpreted as the backbone of Osiris.
