Ellison. EGYPTIAN AMETHYST SCARAB
Middle Kingdom - New Kingdom, Ca. 2055 - 1069 BC. A carved amethyst scarab of ovoid form with naturalistic features with folded wings represented with parallel ridges. A protruding round loop on the top. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Object Number: 22.1.272; The British Museum, Registration number 1899,1016.1233. Size: 33mm x 18mm; Weight: 9g. Provenance: Private UK collection; From an old British collection formed in the 1990s.
