VILLANOVAN JUG WITH GEOMETRIC INCISED DECORATION - Ca. 700 BC. An impasto vessel, the form of which is known as an ”olpe, ” with a flat base supporting a piriform body. The vessel exhibits a carinated midsection, a tapering neck, a funnel-form mouth surrounded by a thick rim, and a high-arching handle with a flat lower terminal. The vessel boasts a ring of zig-zag motifs surrounding the rim, as well as a slender register of incised knots encircling the midsection. Size: 145mm x 120mm; Weight: 200g.
