EASTERN GREEK / WESTERN ASIATIC CARNELIAN NECKLACE - Ca. 1st millennium BC. A necklace composed of striated agate and carnelian beads, alternating with openwork gold beads, creates a colour balance that was extremely fashionable in antiquity, where red was often combined with gold. The beads feature geometric shapes such as tubular, diamond-shaped, circular, and elongated. The necklace is secured at the back with a hook and hoop mechanism.
