EGYPTIAN STONE PALETTE WITH ANIMALS - Predynastic Period, Ca. 3800 - 3100 BC. A black hard stone palette featuring an elongated, pointed body with a shallow, very smooth central bowl. The rim is decorated with a pattern of alternating longitudinal and transverse incised strokes. At the top of the vessel there are two realistically detailed heads of either a goat or an ibex. These heads are complete with curved horns and have been intricately carved in the round. Size: 80mm x 40mm; Weight: 35g. Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex.
