A PAIR OF EGYPTIAN STEATITE SCARABS - Late Middle Kingdom to Second Intermediate Period, Ca. 1750 - 1550 BC.A pair of scarabs, one made of glazed steatite and the other of steatite, both featuring a drilled hole and reflecting the cultures of ancient Egypt and Canaanite-Egyptian influences. The first scarab, dating to the Second Intermediate Period (c. 1650 – 1550 BC), depicts a kneeling figure holding a papyrus stalk, symbolising life, alongside an uraeus serpent and a neb-basket on its base. The second scarab, attributed to the Late Middle Kingdom to Second Intermediate Period (c. 1750 – 1550 BC), showcases pseudo-hieroglyphs in the so-called Anra style on its base.Size: 19-20mm x 13-14mm; Weight: 6g.Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex.
