SASANIAN BOAT SHAPED SILVER SHALLOW BOWL
Ca. AD 200 - 600. A Sassanian bowl of lustrous silver hues with an elliptical form. The ovoid vessel features a larger elongated form with a deep center that elegantly shallows near each end. This was most likely to allow for the pouring of liquids. For similar see: MET Museum Accession Number: 67.203 Size: 185mm x 50mm; Weight: 150g. Provenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1990s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
