GROUP OF THREE EGYPTIAN BROWN FAIENCE USHABTI - Late Period - Ptolemaic Period, Ca. 664 - 30 BCA set of Egyptian faience ushabti figures. The three figures stand in mummiform posture with fused legs and are covered with a green/ brown glaze. These small figures were placed in tombs to carry out agricultural work and other manual labor on behalf of their owners in the afterlife. There were 401 shabtis in a full set: 365 workers (one for each day of the year); and 36 overseers (one for each ten-day week).
