LARGE ROMAN BRONZE GORGON PHALERA INLAID WITH SILVER - Ca. AD 100 - 300. An exquisite ancient Roman phalera featuring the head of Medusa. The bronze face has silver inlaid eyes. She has a slightly open mouth and snakes tied in a Hercules knot below her chin. Her finely modeled hair is swept back from her face. The back of the appliqué is hollow and unadorned.
