CYPRIOT TERRACOTTA JUG WITH OMPHALOS - Ca. 750 - 600 BC. A redware vessel known as a ”target” oinochoe with a planar base, a globular body adorned with several concentric circular patterns, a narrow neck, a trefoil pouring spout, and a slender strap handle. The circular motif is boldly painted in black pigment atop a highly burnished orange-red ground, and thin black stripes embellish the neck, spout rim, and handle. Size: 245mm x 160mm; Weight: 745g Provenance: Private UK collection, acquired on the US Art market; pre 2000.
