ROMAN GOLD RING WITH SAPPHIRE INTAGLIO DEPICTING BUTTERFLY - Ca. AD 100 - 200.A rare oval-shaped sapphire intaglio engraved with the image of a butterfly in flight, shown in left profile. The butterfly features detailed antennae, a rounded abdomen, and large pointed wings angled upwards. The intaglio is inlaid into a gold ring with a rounded hoop, slightly carinated shoulders, and gently expanding towards the bezel.
