ROMAN OVER LIFE SIZE MARBLE VENUS STATUE OF CAMPIDOGLIO - Ca. AD 160. A marble statue of Venus, inspired by the Venus of the Capitol and attributed to Cephisodotus the Younger, depicts the goddess emerging from the bath in a nude pose. The statue's refined forms, extremely smooth surfaces, and high-quality marble suggest it was made by one of the imperial workshops in Rome. Notable comparisons can be drawn with the statues in the Borghese collection, including the Venus Pudica and the Venus Marina.
