EGYPTIAN BLUE GLASS FACE INLAY
New Kingdom, Ramesside Period, 19th - 20th Dynasty, Ca. 1295 - 1069 BC. An opaque blue glass face inlay, depicting a profile view of a human head. Facial features are rendered in shallow relief, with a prominent eye, arched brow, and a straight nose. The lips are full and subtly curved. The prominent ear is distinctly modelled. The underside is flat. Reviewed by Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition. A similar example sold for USD 18,750 at Christie's, Live Auction 15792, Antiquities, 18 April 2018, Lot 81. Size: 26mm x 20mm; Weight: 5g Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex. Private collection Belgium, 2007. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. This piece is accompanied by an authentication statement from Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition.
