A MUGHAL DIAMOND-SET AND ENAMELLED GOLD RING
Possibly Delhi, or Lucknow, India, Ca. 18th - Early 19th century AD. A gold ring of bold, domed form. The broad shank tapers slightly towards the band, the bezel set with a floral arrangement of table-cut diamonds in closed-back kundan settings. The gold structure is finely chased and filled with green enamel, forming intricate foliate and floral motifs that flow seamlessly around the band. The central diamond is encircled by a radiating cluster of similarly cut stones, the bezels exhibiting signs of age and wear. The vibrant green enamelwork is delicately ornamented with fine gold tracery, its luminous quality a testament to the refined craftsmanship of Mughal ateliers.Size: D:17.93mm / US: 7 3/4 / UK: P; Weight: 10gProvenance: Previous property of a UK based Islamic art professional.
