A KASHAN TURQUOISE-GLAZED CERAMIC CENSOR BASE
Kashan, Persia, Ca. 12th - 13th century AD. A striking turquoise-glazed ceramic base of a censer. It features a wide, flared rim and a rounded bowl form set on a low, unglazed footring. The interior of the vessel is slightly concave with four pierced holes, which would have allowed scented smoke to escape during ritual or domestic use.Size: 95mm x 70mm; Weight: 180gProvenance: Previous property of a UK based Islamic art professional.
