A FIGURAL BUFFWARE POTTERY BOWL WITH BIRD MOTIF
Iran or Central Asia, Ca. 11th - 12th century AD . A bowl related to Sari wares, possibly made in Gurgan, characterised by its creamy surface and vivid, stylised decoration. The interior features a boldly drawn bird with an elongated neck and dotted body, surrounded by dotted vegetal motifs in red, brown, and yellow. The design is executed in slip under a transparent glaze. A decorative dot-and-line band encircles the interior rim, with a line of bold brown dots running around the exterior.Size: 180mm x 75mm; Weight: 365gProvenance: Previous property of a UK based Islamic art professional.
