EGYPTIAN AMETHYST HEAD OF SEKHMETH - Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC. A head of Sekhmet carved from amethyst. The lioness features are rendered with rounded ears, almond-shaped eyes, a broad snout, and pronounced whisker pads. A collar is indicated by incised lines forming a radiating pattern around the lower part of the face. The reverse is flat and smoothly finished, with a drilled tunnel for suspension.Size: 24.5mm x 18.3mm; Weight: 6.95gProvenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in early 2000s; previously in 1970s UK collection.
